Going to car inspection gets more expensive in 2020. But little

Does your car have to go through mandatory inspection in 2020? Then you'll pay a little more for the "service". The update of the rates for technical inspections of road vehicles, which comes into force on January 1, 2020 - although with wrong values that will be corrected -, has already been published in Diário da República (DR). For further details, go here: how much is a car inspection

The inspection rates are updated based on the “inflation rate measured by the consumer price index (without housing) - average annual rate of change by reference to the last month that is available - published by INE”, reads in the DR.

According to ECO , which cites an official source from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, this rate of change was fixed at 0.25%, but the figures published in the DR are wrong, so the error will be corrected on the IMT website and, later, in a new publication in DR.

Considering the 0.25% update, the publication calculated the amounts to be paid by drivers in the case of normal inspections, which must be carried out until the date of registration: these will increase by 8 cents, increasing to 31.51 euros. Here are the prices that take effect on January 1, 2020.

Inspection rates have been updated for 2020
Inspections have a new price since January 1. Know the new values when you have to take the car to be inspected.

Since January 1 of this new year, car inspection rates have taken on a new value. The decision of the IMT, IP Board of Directors, which updates the rates for the rates for technical vehicle inspections , was published in Diário da República on 19 December.

Tariffs are updated annually, according to the inflation rate measured by the Total Consumer Price Index (without housing) - average annual rate of change by reference to the last month that is available, published by the National Statistics Institute, IP ( INE, IP).

Value considered for inspections in 2020: 0.25%
Thus, considering that, according to the latest INE publication, referring to December 2019, of the “Consumer Price Index”, the annual measured rate of change (without housing) was fixed at 0.25% , the values of inspection rates to be in force for 2020 are as follows, already with VAT at the legal rate currently in force (23%).
